Because of the ongoing COVID–19 situation, we have had to ‘reimagine’ how we do church together.
As you know, we are currently unable to hold any physical gatherings and so our ‘normal’ weekly schedule of Sunday services, prayer meetings and other get–togethers has had to change. But this has also presented us with an opportunity for meeting together – and inviting others to join us – in new and exciting formats. We are currently meeting regularly through Zoom (see below*) as well as ‘on–line’ worship, through our YouTube channel.
For regular updates on what is happening at the moment, check out the St. John’s Orangefield Facebook page, or our Instagram Account. We realise that some people don’t have access to or are unfamiliar or ill at ease with these sorts of things – so if you need any assistance, please let us know!
During this season, our Church Facebook
page is a key method of communication, and Zoom is the best way for us to feel part of the ongoing church community, so if you are happy to, please join Facebook for this season if you have not done so already, and get involved in some Zoom activities.
Joining Facebook is straightforward:
– Go to www.facebook.com/r.php
– Enter your name, email or mobile phone number, password, date of birth and gender
– Click the green ‘Sign up’ button
– To finish creating your account, you need to confirm your email or mobile phone number. (To confirm your email, click or tap the link in the email you will receive when you create the account. To confirm your mobile number, enter the code you get via text message (SMS) in the confirm box that shows up when you log in….Then you are good to go…)
When you have joined Facebook, please ‘like’ the St. John’s Orangefield page, turn on notifications and prioritise St. John’s on newsfeed settings, so that you are made aware of new information as it becomes available. If all of that is gobbledegook to you (and don’t worry, you are not alone!!), then please get in touch and we can send you fuller instructions.
Accessing Zoom is also straightforward:
The ‘Zoom’ software tool allows more interactive get–togethers online – you can ‘meet’ with friends and family through seeing and hearing each other on a screen and interacting in different ways. You can do this through a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. You can sign up for free through https://zoom.us/ or by downloading the app through the app store on your phone or tablet. Then joining in any church family activity is easy – you just click join and put in the numbers for that particular meeting. We would love to help you get this set up, so that you feel confident in connecting with your church family. If you haven’t done it before, please get in touch and we will walk you through it over the phone or at the door!
